Excerpt from First Vision of Destiny – Alicia

They shook hands, and as everyone said hello, Daisy herded the growing group toward the dining room and the refreshments she had prepared. As she gathered their jackets and purses, she couldn’t help noticing that, aside from Jack who never wore anything other than jeans, her friends had disregarded her request to keep the party informal. Both Mike and Brett wore suits and ties, while Alicia, Lydia, and Cathleen put Daisy to shame in a rainbow of cocktail dresses. She was sure they had dressed up to impress the guest of honor, and now Daisy found herself wishing she had done the same. She left them for a second to place their belongings in the guest bedroom, listening to the continuing discussion.

“I believe in seers,” Jack said again “I’m just not sure anyone can do what this guy says he does. I’m not sure anyone needs to know their future, either.” Continue reading…

Excerpt from Second Vision of Destiny – Lydia

They were halfway across the deck when Owen stopped her and tilted her face up toward his with a finger beneath her chin.

“Lydia…” His fingers ghosted over her face, tracing her nose and lips. “I don’t want you to be nervous.”

She forced out a quiet chuckle. “That’s going to be hard.”

His thumb stroked her cheekbone, and she moved into the touch. “No, it really is not. If you’re here, then you’ve decided to go through with it, yes?” Continue reading…

Third Vision of Destiny – Joan

Cover for Third Vision of DestinyAs Daisy witnesses her friends’ distress, she can only wonder, yet again, if visions of one’s future are more damaging than they are helpful. She tries to argue with the seer Sam Woods about it, tries to convince her friends not to go through the experience, but without any success, and she can only watch as Joan goes to Woods – watch, and hope that this vision will not break apart Joan and her boyfriend Brad.

In her vision, Joan is married to Brad, and they have two beautiful children. Everything seems perfect – except for the porn videos Joan discovers on the computer, that is. After her initial feelings of betrayal and talking about it with Brad, she realizes that, maybe, she could try to give Brad a very special Christmas gift by acting out his fantasy…

Excerpt from Third Vision of Destiny – Joan

Wondering if it was all this bad, she tried another video. The scenario that played out seemed awfully similar to the first one. At first, she thought it was a coincidence. But when the third video showed the same kind of scene, she started to suspect it was more than that. She continued going through the list, fast-forwarding through four more videos before she admitted to herself that, no, it wasn’t a coincidence. The sex acts were varied, but the videos all played through the same basic scenario. The setting was an office. A woman sat in it, dressed in a professional suit and high heels. Sometimes she was blonde, sometimes brown-haired; sometimes she had a short hair, sometimes long, in a tight bun at the beginning of the video, loose on her shoulders later on. It always was clear from her demeanor that she was some sort of supervisor, while the man who always joined her in her office, wearing his tie and meek attitude with the same artlessness, seemed to be her employee. Excerpt from Fourth Vision of Destiny – Mike

Mike was never, ever allowing his friends to set him up on a blind date again, not even if he had to spend the rest of his life alone.

“Well, it was nice meeting you. Goodnight, then.”

An awkward handshake later, Timmy—honestly, what grown man asked a potential relationship interest to call him Timmy on the first date?—rose from the small table and headed straight for the club’s exit. Mike consoled himself with the thought that at least Timmy wasn’t stopping on the dance floor to try and pick up someone else. That would have been the last straw.

As he took several large gulps from his vodka cocktail, Mike let his gaze trail over the club. He had been there for more than an hour, and he had grown accustomed to the lack of light, enough so to appraise the club’s clientele. For someone on the market—someone like him—this certainly was a great place. All types of men crowded the place, dancing, playing pool in the back, sitting at the bar or at small tables like he and Timmy had been. All he had to do, really, was decide what he wanted. Blonde or brunette. Flamboyantly gay or more masculine. Someone tall and bulky enough to wrap him in his arms or someone with a smaller build, who would need to tilt his head up to kiss him. Continue reading…

Fourth Vision of Destiny – Mike

Cover for Fourth Vision of DestinyHaving finally accepted that the visions Woods offers her friends are real, Daisy begins to wonder what the seer himself gets out of the experience. It can’t be all that pleasant, she figures, especially when he has to kiss both women and men – and doesn’t like men in that way.

Mike, on the other hand, does like men, but he has had little luck in finding Mr. Right, despite his friends’ attempts at introducing him to potential relationship interests. On the eve of Valentine’s Day, his loneliness and one drink too many cause him to flirt with a handsome stranger and ask for a one-night stand. In the morning, though, that questionable decision might turn out to be the one that will change Mike’s life for the better.

Excerpt from Fifth Vision of Destiny

“Do you trust me?” Leo cut in, voice gentle yet firm.

Without thinking, Brett reached up to brush his fingers against the two puckered scars on his neck. Leo always bit in the same place he had that very first night, reopening the same scars again and again, and touching them always sent flashes of warmth and lust coiling around Brett’s balls. If there was a better way to prove his trust, he didn’t know what it was.

Leo’s gaze followed his gesture, and he leaned closer to press his lips over Brett’s fingers. “Then believe me,” he said as he pulled back, smiling softly. “She’ll be in our bed tonight, and she’ll be wearing that pretty ring.” Continue reading…

Fifth Vision of Destiny – Brett

Cover for Fifth Vision of DestinyAs the evening progresses and Daisy witnesses the seer Sam Woods giving her friends visions of their future, her opinion of Woods slowly changes. Maybe he isn’t the charlatan she believed, after all, and maybe all these glimpses of other people’s happiness are harder to bear than he lets on. His admission that he never felt real love, soon echoed by her friend Brett, leaves Daisy uncomfortable enough that she eavesdrops on Brett and Woods’ conversation.

For all his fears of not finding the person he is destined to love, Brett discovers in his vision that he will fall in love with not one lover, but two. Two vampires, in fact, a man and a woman, both of them so precious to him that he wants to show his love by offering them wedding rings. But when one of them refuses to wear the ring, the perfect relationship he thought he had starts to crumble around him… or does it?

A closer look at the Visions of Destiny series

This series is set in the same universe as the On The Edge and Special Enforcers series, and some characters will make small, or not so small, appearances.

What I am trying to do with the Visions of Destiny is to explore those moments that change the rest of our lives, those crossroads that seem innocuous at the time, but that transform everything. Continue reading…

Excerpt from Sixth Vision of Destiny – Cathleen

He leaned in to murmur into her ear, “I’ve wanted to do this all evening,” and when she looked up at him to ask what it was he wanted to do, he captured her mouth again, pressing in at once, his arms drawing her closer to him.

Lightheaded, Cathleen closed her eyes and clung to his shoulders, letting herself be kissed, kissing back just as fiercely. She, too, had wanted this all evening, and it took her a few seconds before she realized they were standing in the middle of a hallway, where anyone might see them.

Pulling away was more difficult to do every time she had to. Continue reading…

Sixth Vision of Destiny – Cathleen

Another one of Daisy’s friends has received a vision of his future from the seer Sam Woods, and that vision is so far removed from Brett’s current life that he can hardly believe it. As he forgets what he saw, Daisy wonders, what was the point of it all?

But after talking with Woods, as she realizes how much he wishes he could see what Brett did, see himself in love and loved in return, Daisy can only share his loneliness, and she could almost wish for a vision of her own — almost, but not quite.

It’s this same loneliness that pushes Cathleen to ask for her turn, and the vision Woods offers her shows her the man that will give her the companionship and love she craves — a man half her age.

Torn by the fear of how others, including her own son, will see this age difference, Cathleen has kept her relationship with Alex a secret. It is now time for her to decide if she should end it altogether, or if she can allow herself to enjoy the love she had nearly given up on finding.

Excerpt from Seventh Vision of Destiny – Rachel

“Enjoying yourself without me when you knew I was coming,” he said, reproachful. “How very naughty.”

He finished his drink and set the glass to the table beside the loveseat. Reaching forward, he slipped a single finger under her chin. He made a point of looking straight into her eyes, and she had to stop herself from dropping her gaze. His eyes were dark, the pupils dilated and already filled with desire.

“I think,” he said slowly, as though musing aloud, “I might have to see just how much you enjoyed yourself and decide if you need to be punished.”

A shiver fluttered down Rachel’s back at that last word; it was all part of the game, of course. Whether she had enjoyed herself too much or not watching others play, Master David would end up taking her to one of the play rooms so they could have a scene of their own. Continue reading…
